QUESTION:
Hello Jeff,
Your below statement seems ‘fact’ incomplete and so it is misleading.
“…because Thailand dropped all charges against Mr. Bout shortly after his arrest, Viktor Bout had been held without charge in Thailand for many months. After dropping all charges, the Thai government has not charged him with any charges.”
There are the additional charges that the US filed immediately after the first case dismissal and so the present conditions of Bout detention await the Courts ruling as to whether or not the US present request to withdraw these charges is legally acceptable or not. If withdrawal is acceptable, then the higher court reversal and the immediate extradition can go forth.
I feel you need to address these complications, some way or another, if you are going to have an squeaky clean and honest site.

RESPONSE:
Thanks for your comments. Yes, I agree with what you stated about the case waiting to see if the Appellate Court´s decision will hold up. They have to wait to see if the US withdrawing the 9 charges related to wire fraud is legal or not. If it is legal, they will try to go ahead with the extradition. However, there are many other things that could happen, like the recent letter from Alla Bout to Prime Minister Abhisit. In addition, the US only has approximately 3 months to extradite Mr. Bout from the date of the last decision (August 20).
Mr. Bout has been held without charge from the Thai government for well over 2 years. The Thai public prosecutor (whose name is Sanchai Krungkanchana) has filed the legal paperwork on behalf on the US.
The first 4 charges were also filed over 2 years ago. Over 1 year ago, Viktor Bout won the case. It was appealed, and the decision was made last month (August) that the US had the legal right to have Viktor extradited to New York to face charges. However, several months ago, The US had 9 additional charges filed in Thai court, as sort of a back-up plan in case the US were to lose their appeal from the original 4 charges.
The Thai court postponed the extradition, because Mr. Bout already had a court date set for this coming October 4.
Needless to say, this case is extremely sensitive in nature.
The site is being built slowly but surely, and the best way to find our reviews of popular publications´ write-ups is to click the Popular Reviews tab from the home page. We hope for this site to be content-rich, but also easy to follow, so we have segmented the content into distinct pages. Any further suggestions would be much appreciated!
We do hope to keep it objective, and we will only state things that have been shown to be true.
Thank you for your letter.
Kind regards,
Jeff
